Series TLb
Thor Systems’ TLb Series is an underground transmission Link Box available with both station class arresters and copper grounding bars. The Link Box is used to provide overvoltage protection for underground transmission cables by bonding the cable sheaths to ground either through surge arresters or a direct C11000 copper connection to avoid a Cable Dielectric Fault.
Typical installations include two Link Boxes: Arrester Link Box (comprised of 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12kV Surge Arresters) and Ground Link Box (with Copper Ground Bars). One spliced sheath conductor is connected to the Arrester Link Box and a second spliced sheath conductor is connected to the Ground Link Box. This provides a path to ground for the excessive sheath voltage, preventing a Cable Dielectric Fault.
